City officials and United Community Action Partnership representatives met Thursday in a construction kick-off meeting with the local builders of the two homes on the north side of Front St.
BT Quality Construction and Dale Johnson III Construction have been awarded bids to construct the two single-level, slab-on-grade homes.
With a little cooperation from the weather, it is hoped the homes will be finished sometime in November.
“We finalized our timeline and went over process, payment, paperwork — finalizing some of the plans for how the houses are going to be situated,” said Tiffani Kibwota of UCAP, which is funding the project. “We’re pretty much ready to go.”
