Tracy’s second pitch to County for housing money a successful one

The City of Tracy’s hopes for a housing project that would partner the City and Tracy Area High School got a big boost Tuesday.

The Lyon County Board of Commissioners earmarked $100,000 in ARPA funds that will go toward Tracy’s plans for a new spec. home in Tracy that will be built, in part, by high school students in Karl Campbell’s trades class.

The City had been in a holding pattern for weeks as it waited on word of whether or not it will receive the funding from the state, through the county. The county had already committed the same amount for the housing project in Balaton in the former Colonial Manor bulding (which is contingent on grant approval).

Tracy Community Development Director Tom Dobson appeared before the county board Tuesday for the second time this year to request funding for the project.
