Larry Jay Schmidt, age 60 of Tracy, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Sanford Tracy Medical Center with family and friends at his side. According to Larry’s wishes, a private family burial will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Larry Jay Schmidt was born December 7, 1963 to Roland and Marcella (Truwe) Schmidt in Tracy, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Tracy Lutheran Church and graduated from Tracy High School. Larry loved everything about farming, which he did with his dad until his passing. Larry looked forward to farming, especially in the spring and fall. His mother would also help in the fall with hauling grain into town. He worked hard and enjoyed life to the fullest. Larry enjoyed all things outdoors including being at the cabin on Lake Sarah and deer hunting with family and friends. You could often find him grilling or smoking different meals for supper. Larry lived for the excitement of the fishing. He enjoyed cooking meals with his catch of the day, especially walleye and perch. Larry was very close to his sister Lynda and his nephew Jared.
Larry is survived by his mother Marcella; brother Allen (Mary) Schmidt; sisters: Rolana Schmidt and Theresa (David) Thomson; nephew Jared Schmidt; Larry’s side-kick Lucky; and many cousins and countless friends. Larry is preceded in death by his dad Roland and sister Lynda Schmidt.
