Robert (Bob) Nelson, age 89, of Rancho Bernardo, California (formerly of Mendota Heights) passed away on May 14, 2024 in his home.
Bob was born in Tracy on March 26, 1935, to Chester and Berneice Nelson. He married Barbara Friedrich on June 18, 1960. Bob was a graduate of the University of Minnesota Veterinary School and proud supporter of the Veterinary School and University. He went on to a successful career at 3M from 1963 to 1997 where he held a variety of positions. Bob said the five most important priorities in his life were faith, family, friends, health and security. He loved his family and was a living example of what we should all aspire to be. He also loved golf, travel and time with friends in Minnesota, Arizona, and California. Bob and Barb were able to travel to many amazing destinations all over the world during their 63 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, children, Steve (Kris) Nelson of Scottsdale, AZ, Kathy (Kevin) Adams of Chaska, David (Beth) Nelson of San Diego, CA, and Lisa (Marco) Baca of San Marcos, CA. Grandchildren Chris (Dawn) Adam of Carver, MN, Katie (Nick) Donnay of Kimball, MN, Andy and Bailey Nelson of San Diego, and Sophia and Tony Baca of San Marcos. Great-grandchildren Natalie Donnay, Amelia Adams, Molly Donnay, Emerson Adams and Lucas Donnay.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Berneice Nelson and his sister, Shirley Creagan.
Mass of Christian Burial was May 23 at St. Peter’s Historic Catholic Church in Mendota. Memorials preferred to donor’s choice.
