Back in business in Currie

With the best of intentions, Matt and Elizabeth Schreier in 2020 decided to rebrand Lakeside Hideaway on Currie’s main street. It was a business Matt was familiar with as a former dishwasher and server at T-Tommy’s Mill Street Grill, which closed on New Year’s Eve in 2010. Not wasting any time, Matt bought the business and opened Lakeside Hideaway, just before he and Elizabeth started dating and well before their family starting growing.

During their run, there were ups and downs — the most significant down being the pandemic that shut down restaurants but also gave the couple a chance to pause and reflect on their priorities and goals. Eventually, the Schreiers made the difficult decision to close up shop.

Today, the energetic and devoted couple, now with two children — Ada, 9, and Otto, 6 — is back and are once again running The Hideaway.
