An outspoken supporter of Tracy who had an affinity for politics at a local, state and national level died last week.
Rosemary Martin, a member of a number of boards and commissions in Tracy, died at the age of 71 on Wednesday at the Avera Regional Medical Center in Marshall after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.
While at times polarizing, Martin worked diligently for her hometown, often going above and beyond for any particular cause.
“She ruffled a lot of feathers, but let me tell you, she was fair, she was hard working, she was passionate about Tracy,” Tracy City Administrator Jeff Carpenter said. “She knew the Charter better than I ever will. Anytime I needed to ask a question, there were a lot of times — even though she didn’t work for the City — I would call her and get her opinion.”
