Carl Nyquist found it hard to put into words what happened at Tracy Lanes this past Saturday.
“The outpouring of support has just been phenomenal, I can’t put it into words,” Nyquist said Saturday during a benefit held to offset travel and medical expenses for his family. “This is what small communities do for each other. It’s kind of a weird feeling when your friends and co-workers and people you just know of are coming in and helping out and rallying together behind you.”
On June 29, a mass was found on Nyquist’s right kidney, and clots formed after the mass began to bleed. Nyquist had successful surgery to remove the mass on June 19 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Nyquist had his 35 staples removed on July 1. The pathology report showed renal (clear cell) carcinoma.
