Time and time again, the City of Tracy has made a run at a DNR grant in its years-long effort to get its hands on some money for new and much-needed Central Park playground equipment. And time and time again, Tracy has had the proverbial door slammed in its face.
While that pot of gold continues to be out of reach for Park Board members, it by no means has diminished their spirit and fundraising efforts.
In just the last two or so years, the board has raised $48,000 through various fundraisers and donations. The City has also set aside $40,000 for 2025 that has been council-approved for Central Park improvements. And, Tracy City Administrator Jeff Carpenter said at last week’s budget meeting, the City recently learned that a company has a program that is offering playground equipment for 50% off.
