This won’t be your parents’ Box Car Day celebration.
Besides staples of the annual event — now in its 97th year — there will be a number of new additions this year, including some subtle ones that Tracy Area Chamber of Commerce Director Arika Sanders hopes will add some flair and fun to traditional offerings.
For starters, dee jay Jerry Gladis will provide music during the Chamber’s Burger Night on Friday. Gladis will lead into another Tracy favorite, Kayla Daniels, who will take the stage about 9 p.m.
“That will be fun,” Sanders said. “It’s just to kind of get the energy flowing, and there’s a little bit of nostalgia with Jerry — back in the ‘90s he had the Hollywood Ballroom. I was pretty excited he said yes. There will be some fun energy in the beer tent that night.”
