There are plenty of highlights to look at when it comes to test scores at Tracy Area Elementary School.
TAES Principal Michael Munson talked about some of those highlights at Monday’s District No. 2904 School Board meeting.
One of the brightest ones is the school’s test scores in the Free and Reduced Lunch category where students here bested the state scoring average by 20% in reading and math. The school doubled the state average in the Asian Free and Reduced Lunch category, scoring at 62.5% in both reading and math.
“Our two main groups to look at the ‘gaps’ with are Asian Pacific Islander and Free and Reduced Lunch,” Munson said. “Traditionally throughout the state, the higher percentage you have of Free and Reduced Lunch students, the lower your test scores are. Our numbers were really good — 54% (Free and Reduced Lunch) passed in reading and 48.1% in math.”
Overall, the school, Munson said, is striving to get back to pre-COVID scores.
