While the draft is still considered a “work in progress,” Lyon County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday did get a close-up look of a proposed cannabis ordinance it can play off of leading up to an official adoption of rules and regulations for 2025 and beyond.
The board set a public hearing for 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 19 as another step in setting a County-wide ordinance on the issue. Cities and townships within the County have the option to draft and abide by their own ordinance, or defer to the County’s, as many appear likely to do. County officials have reached out to city councils and townships and will continue to communicate in the near future to get their thoughts on how they want to proceed individually. The County has until the end of the year to adopt a final cannabis ordinance of its own.
