Trevor’s time

When Trevor Smith entered a varsity basketball game as an eighth-grader, he had one job: shoot the three.

“That was pretty much my role — just stand in the corner, and when the ball came my way, hopefully I was open so I could shoot it,” Smith recalls.

Since then, and year by year, Smith has grown physically and because of that, his game has developed to the point where he has become a multi-dimensional offensive force.

That growth was on display Dec. 31 in Marshall when Smith scored his 2,000th point in a 56-52 non-conference win over Pipestone Area.

“His transformation from an eighth-grader to now is crazy — he was pretty much just a three-point shooter his first couple years because that’s what they needed,” TMB coach Ryan Kruse said. “Now he scores in every way. He can still get hot, and the way he can score when everybody’s eyes are on him is insane.”
