Douglas Lee Nackerud, age 78 of Tracy, passed away on February 20, 2025 in Tracy surrounded by family. Funeral Services were at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Douglas Lee Nackerud was born to Leif and Anna (Lien) Nackerud on September 17, 1946 in Tracy, MN. He was baptized November 10, 1946 and confirmed October 8, 1961 both at Tracy Lutheran Church. Doug attended Tracy Public School and graduated with the Class of 1964. He began driving truck for Nackerud Trucking right out of high school.
On January 14, 1967, Doug was wed to Suzanne Ruth Ziemke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. He served in the National Guard from 1964 to 1970. In 1988, Nackerud Trucking was sold and Doug went to work for the Tracy Elevator. Then in 2001, he started an 18 year career driving school bus. Doug announced for the Panther football team for many years. He was involved with the community by managing the new Tracy Aquatic Center and the Tracy Country Club each for a summer, and was a member of the Lions Club. As a member of the Tracy Lutheran Church, Doug was head usher for many years. He enjoyed golf, bowling and snowmobiling, and was an avid Gopher fan. Most of all, Doug loved watching his kids’ and grandkids’ activities.
Doug is survived by his wife of 59 years Sue; his children: Pamela (Keith) Peterson & Paul, both of Tracy; grandchildren: Austin (Gina) Peterson, Anna (McKinley) Johansen & Shay Knutson; great-grandson Calvin Johansen; brothers: Terry (Joan) Nackerud of Buffalo, MN & Norm Nackerud of Hastings, NE; brother-in-law Elverne Ziemke of Tracy; and many other relatives & friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Brian, and sisters-in-law Mary Ellen Nackerud & Laurie Ziemke.
