Most small towns are home to a family that has grown to be synonymous with that city. In Balaton, that name is Fricke, a family that recently built on its local legacy by purchasing one of Balaton’s most important businesses: Balaton Bay Golf Course.
The Frickes as a group, has bought out Ronnie and Sonja Gasca, who took over course and clubhouse operations just over a year ago.
“We’ve known Ronnie and Sonja for a long time — we really just started talking about this the last couple of weeks,” said Kelly Fricke. “It just went from talking to … this. Changes will be consistent; it happened so fast that we haven’t been able to catch our breath yet.”
Balaton Bay is a cherished business in Balaton, not just because of its popularity, but because of a past ownership group, which also grew to be a name synonymous with Balaton.
