Darrell was born March 30, 1932 in Mason Township, Murray County, Minnesota to Alphonse and Esther (Barrie) Morin. He grew up on a farm near Currie, attended Country School District #5 and Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Currie, MN. He enlisted into the United States Army on March 25, 1953 and served in the Korean War. He was discharged on January 10, 1955.
On September 8, 1956, he was united in marriage to Rita Holles at IHM Church in Currie. Following their marriage, he worked at Stonehill Creamery and A & D Hatchery in Tracy, MN. In 2013, they left the farm and moved into Currie.
Darrell was an active lifetime member of the IHM Church in Currie, a member of the VFW in Slayton, and also a very involved member of the Currie American Legion. He became a member of the American Legion in 1955. He served as commander for several terms and also held various other offices. Darrell was very much a people person with a heart of gold.
