A memorial service for Marjorie Ann Krienke Hyland will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Tracy Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. She passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Prairie View Living Center in Tracy, MN.
She was born on December 4, 1930 to William and Luella (Engbard) Krienke of Claremont, MN. In 1953 Marge married her high school sweetheart, Odein LeRoy Hyland in Owatonna, MN. The couple loved to travel and for that reason they enjoyed Air Force life. They spent several years in Lake City, MN while Odein studied for his DDS degree and Marge taught school to help support them before moving in 1965 to Tracy, MN where Odein opened his dental practice. Marge taught one year in the Tracy Elementary school after which she joined Odein in his dental practice as his dental assistant. They purchased a farm outside of Tracy where Marge spent her spare time creating a beautiful home surrounded by many gardens. She was generous with her plants and many of the Tracy and surrounding area gardens have reminders of Marge Hyland’s creative gifts. She was forever researching the newest variety of plants which she hoped would grow in this area. She hardly ever missed entering the Methodist flower show and usually walked away with Champion or Grand Champion honors.
Besides Odein her greatest passion in life was flowers and gardening. The couple enjoyed watching high school sports, especially the girl’s teams and it was a rarity that they were not seen at the various sporting events.
Marge was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary as she joined in 1965. She belonged to the Sorosis Study Club GFWC. She joined in 1967 making her a fifty year member of that organization. She belonged to the two local garden clubs, the Garden Gate Garden Club for 50 years and the Hoe and Hope Garden Club.
Marge is survived by her brother-in-law, Arlow Hyland of Rosmond, CA and nieces and one nephew and many friends.
Her parents, William and Luella Krienke, husband, Odein Hyland and Odein’s brothers, Ammett and Glea Hyland and three Hyland sisters preceded her in death.
The family requests that memorials be given to the Tracy Lutheran Church Building Fund or Tracy Prairie View Senior Living.
Please join her friends for a luncheon immediately following the service.
Interment will be at Fort Snelling at a later date.
