Jim Green isn’t your average firefighter, never has been.
During his younger days with the Garvin Volunteer Fire Department, Green could be found retrofitting vehicles for use to fight fires, or spending hours upon hours working on fixing up the inside the old fire hall.
Long story short, Green will be missed for many reasons.
This past Saturday, Green was the guest of honor at his retirement party at The Caboose, as he has hung up his helmet for the last time after 49 years. Only health issues prevented him from making it an even 50, but he went out with a bang, celebrating his time as a firefighter with friends, family and fellow firefighters.
