Hinrichs will fill vacant council seat

The Tracy City Council on Monday addressed the vacant position on the council, appointing Brian Hinrichs to fill the open seat.

The position became open after former council member Tom Dobson assumed the position as Community Development Director, replacing current Tracy City Administrator Jeff Carpenter.

The council approved Hinrichs — one of two applicants for the spot — after a recommendation by Tracy Mayor Pam Cooreman.

“When I was considering this, I was considering what is best for Tracy,” Cooreman said. “So, my nomination is Brian Hinrichs. I will say to the other candidate, I would hope that you will run in November.”

Prior to Cooreman’s recommendation, a couple of council members questioned the need to replace Dobson with the election less than six months away.
