There soon will be fewer cooks in the community center kitchen.
The Tracy City Council last Tuesday unanimously backed the idea of decreasing the council’s representation on the Community Center Workforce Group from the full council to just two members — George Landuyt and Jan Arvizu — along with Tracy City Administrator Jeff Carpenter.
It was Landuyt who proposed to the council last week that the committee should be downsized in order to more easily come to a conclusion that is affordable. Bollig Engineering estimates a brand-new center would cost in the neighborhood of $1.7 million.
“By always having the full council there, it takes so long … nobody gets anything done,” Landuyt said. “This, I think, will streamline it, so we can get some things figured out. Then we can bring it back to the council to review.”
