David Peterson, 53

David “Petey” Peterson, age 53 of Tracy, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 29, 2024 at Sanford Tracy Medical Center. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. A private interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery, near Garvin. David “Petey” Peterson was born April 10, 1971 to Lyle and Mickie (Ingalls) Peterson in Tracy, Minnesota. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1989 and continued his education at Willmar VoTech to pursue a degree in graphic design. After his schooling, he returned to Tracy and worked a short time at the Marshall Independent. In 1991, Petey then worked for his brother Keith, until 1995 when he began his partnership with Joe Beierman until 2001, when he returned to Daniels Peterson Construction. He began working for the City of Tracy in 2014. Petey was hired with the City of Tracy Public Works Department and took over as Cemetery Superintendent following Bernie Holm. He was a volunteer fireman and retired after 20 years of service. Petey was also a former member of the Tracy Eagles Club. In March of 2000, he became a father to his only son Nicholas. Later that year on August 12, he married the love of his life Tammy Turner at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin. Petey enjoyed his annual Star Fishing Trips, hunting, spending time at the lake, driving his side by side and his Harley. He loved being in his garage and spending time with his family, friends, and dogs.
David is survived by his wife Tammy of 24 years; son Nick (girlfriend Alyssa Almjeld) of Fountain City, WI; siblings: Lynn (Bill) Gautsche of Eau Claire, WI, Cindy (Bob) Gorman of Rochester, Kelley (Bob) Erickson of Northfield, and Keith (Pam) Peterson of Tracy; mother & father-in-law Peggy & Lonny Turner of Lake Shetek; brother-in-law Chad (Angie) Turner of Garvin; and countless special aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews, cousins & friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle & Mickie.
