Robert ‘Bob’ Nordeen, 74

Robert “Bob” John Nordeen went home to the Lord in the early morning hours of July 22, 2024, at the Sunrise Manor in Tyler, MN.  Bob had been receiving hospice care since early June after being diagnosed with cancer last March. Bob departed this life peacefully in his sleep.

Bob was born on June 22, 1950, to Albert and Esther Nordeen in Minneapolis, MN. Bob was the middle child, born between his two brothers, Craig and Steve.  Bob attended school in St. Louis Park, MN and graduated from Minnehaha Academy in 1969.  Bob spent the summer of 1969 in Little Rock, Arkansas with a group of college age students studying the Bible and becoming a church like in the Book of Acts of the Bible. During this time Bob came to know Jesus as the Lord and love of his life. In the fall of 1969 Bob and the group returned to Marshall, MN where, by God’s divine provision and a labor of faith, a church was established near Lynd, MN called The Church on the Hill.

Bob had many talents and a few different jobs in his career.  He worked for Johnson Motors rewinding electrical motors, where his skill and inventive creativity were put to work. Bob also worked a number of years with a small railroad repair business upgrading and repairing side tracks. However, Bob spent most of his working career with Reinhart Foodservice out of Marshall, MN.

On May 22, 1993, Bob wed Pamela Jean Gandsley.  They were blessed to have 31 years together as husband and wife.  They made their home in Balaton, MN until Bob’s illness. Pam now lives in Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy, MN.  Bob and Pam enjoyed taking road trips, discovering new “favorite” restaurants and being active members of Victory Christian Church in Balaton. Few things excited Bob like having the opportunity to tell people about a saving relationship with Jesus.

Bob enjoyed drawing, inventing all kinds of gadgets, reading and studying his Bible and spending time with Pam.  For 31 years they have been nearly inseparable.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve and is survived by his wife, Pamela, and his brother Craig and sister-in-law Marjorie, who live in Connecticut.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony for Bob will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 10, at Victory Christian Church in Balaton, MN.
