Balaton residents opening their doors — literally

This weekend’s Balaton Area Chamber of Commerce Fall Tour of Homes will actually feature more than homes.

For starters, “Joe’s Shop,” — think man cave — will be one of the four stops on the tour, which runs from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday The shop is the pride and joy of Joe Cooreman, and his and his wife Cookie’s home on Grandview St. will also be featured.

“Joe’s excited to show off his shop,” said Chamber President Brita Fricke. “I’ve been in it, he did a fantastic job. It’s a beautiful  … man cave; I think if there are in any husbands who join their wife on the tour, they will appreciate it.”

Secondly, Ruth Lenhoff and Gayle Kaup, who team up for a craft show every October, will take their vendor show to the tour.

“We have a few addresses that will be listed on the tickets for purchase,” Fricke said. “They’ll have Tupperware, Scentsy, Tastefully Simple, some clothes — it’s exciting that they’re going to be doing it the same day, and hopefully bring more people into town and create a more fun afternoon for all the people that participate.”
