Millie was one of nine children born to Dwight and Helen (Baum) Bartlett on April 2, 1930 on the farm site near Sublette, IL. In 1937, the family moved to Revere, MN. Upon her graduation from Walnut Grove High School in 1948, Millie attended Mankato State College and MN Bible College in Minneapolis. Later on, teachers were required to obtain a 4-year degree so she started taking night classes. She then spent two summers in Mankato to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and graduated in August 1969.
For many years she was an elementary school teacher at Tracy Elementary School where she found her passion and loved teaching elementary students. On July 25, 1954, Millie married Neil Horsman of rural Tracy. To this union were born five children; Mark, Kathy, Sherrie, Wayne and Laurie. Later on, they adopted Julie Maria from the Philippines. Millie was a member of the Church of Christ in Tracy where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was also an avid piano player and member of the Priscilla Circle. In 2016, Millie became a resident at Hill Street in Marshall where she enjoyed participating in activities and playing games. She enjoyed cheering for her beloved Minnesota Vikings Sunday afternoons and watching Wheel of Fortune during the week nights. Of course Hallmark movies were a favorite as well; these past times brought her great joy and comfort in her later years. Millie moved to Boulder Creek Memory Care in June of this year where she resided for a short time. Always the teacher, she savored spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and at family gatherings could often be found reading with a child on her lap.
She is survived by her loving children: Mark (Donna) Horsman of Watertown, SD; Kathy (David) Wilking of Tracy; Sherrie Cambronne of Marshall; Wayne (Jenny Floria) Horsman of Prior Lake; and Laurie Horsman of New York, NY. Her legacy lives on through her 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her brother Glenn (Belva) Bartlett, sister-in-law JoAnn Bartlett and brother-in-law Charles Fultz. Millie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Neil, daughter Julie, her parents, and seven siblings.
Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
