There will be no changes on the Tracy City Council in 2025, as the three incumbents were the top vote-getters out of seven candidates on Election Night. George Landuyt led the way with 453 votes (56%), followed by Seth Schmidt with 411 (50.8%) and Brian Hinrichs with 308 (38%). Challengers Tony Peterson had 288 votes, or 35.6%, Rhonda Fredericks 185 (22.8%), Jeffrey Heronimus 70 and Michael D. Ross 60. A total of 808 votes were cast.
• In the Balaton City Council race, Greg Erickson retained his seat with 227 votes. Tracy McCloud secured the other seat with 218 votes. Troy Jones received 91 votes. Mayor Lonnie Lambertus ran unopposed.
• Currie will have a new mayor, as challenger Jerald Fogelson defeated incumbent Eugene Short, 67-36. In the city council race, current members Elizabeth Schreier received 83 votes and Kala Larson 78.
County races
Current Lyon County Commissioner Rick Anderson survived a challenge from Tom Chandler and will continue serving District 5 that includes Tracy, which Anderson carried with 443 votes to Chandler’s 241.
Results from the one conested race showed Anderson garnered 1,263 (52%) of the votes in Lyon County to Chandler’s 1,134 (47%).
Anderson has served on the board since 2010, including a recent stint as Board Chair.
Commissioners Todd Draper and Gary Crowley ran unopposed.
In the Murray County Commissioner District 2 race, Mark Carlson defeated Trevor Humphrey, receiving 725 votes to Humphrey’s 227 votes. In the County Commissioner District 5 race, Roger Zins received 527 votes while Randy Donahue had 237 votes. Loy Woelber ran unopposed in District 1 and received 844 votes.
