The funeral service for Florence Lorenz a resident of the Lakewood Care Center in Staples, and formerly of Bertha, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31 at the Faith United Church of Christ in Bertha, with Pastor Dave Seaton presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Florence, age 94, passed away with family at her side, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples.
Florence was born to Eugene and Eunice (Everette) Robbins on August 7, 1922 in Amiret, MN. She was united in marriage with Earnest Gilb on April 10, 1941. He passed away in 1968. Years later, Florence married Melvin Lorenz on May 3, 1975. She was a homemaker that also worked many hours as a nurse yet was able to find time for reading, flower gardening and participating in the ladies aid. Most of all, Florence savored time spent with her family.
Florence was preceded in death by her husbands Earnest Gilb and Melvin Lorenz; parents Eugene and Eunice; brothers Earl and George Robbins; step-mother Melissa Robbins; and grandson Todd Gilb.
She is survived by her children Harvey (Connie) Gilb of Vining, Kenneth (Judy) Gilb of Wadena and LaVonne (Harold) Lange of New Ulm; grandchildren Allen Kruger, Julie (Tim) Mossak, Mark Kruger, Scott (Erin) Kruger, Lyn (Bill) Nord, Laurie (Mike) Felt, Debbie (Shannon) Starry, Tammy Stebelton and Trent (Aline) Gilb; great-grandchildren Berlin Mossak, Skylar (Derik) Mann, Martika Nord, Matt Nord, Brendan Felt, Kendra Felt, Tyler (Bradie) Starry, Lexie Stebelton, Braedon Stebelton, Erika Gilb, Josh Gilb, and Danica Gilb; great-great-grandchildren Paisley Starry, Brielle Starry, Connor Mann and Olivia Gilb; along with her brother Merlin Robbins.
Honorary casketbearers will be Florence’s great-great-grandchildren. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, in Amiret Cemetery, near Tracy, MN.
