Virginia “Jean” Lamfers, age 96 of Tracy formerly of Amiret, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Interment was in the Amiret Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Catholic School or Compassionate Care Hospice. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Virginia “Jean” Lamfers was born February 12, 1921 to Peter and Susanna (Knott) Lenertz in Comfrey, Minnesota. She received the sacraments at St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey. Jean graduated 8th grade with honors from St. Paul’s Catholic School. She lived in Comfrey until she was 17 years old. On October 8, 1940, Jean married Heye Lamfers at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, Minnesota. The couple moved to Amiret, Minnesota. Jean enjoyed helping on the farm. She was the author of the Amiret News for the Marshall Messenger Newspaper. Jean enjoyed daily journaling and always had a very positive attitude. During the warmer months Jean enjoyed tending to her large garden and canning. She belonged to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was Vice President of the CCW. She was also a 4H Leader for many years in Amiret. She loved to dance and Conway Twitty music. Jean loved to visit and play pinochle and bingo. She enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, going on tours and traveling, especially to Arizona and California. Jean loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Virginia is survived by son Mike (Darles) Lamfers of Amiret; grandchildren: Stacy (Jay) Holbrook of St. Bonifacius, Chris Lamfers of Currie, BJ (Philippa) Lamfers of Hermantown; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Ellie and Will Holbrook, JaRae, Skyla and Summer Lamfers; step grandchildren: Jeff (Nikki) Schwartz and Janine (Anthony) DiGiulio; step great-granddaughter Brooklyn Schwartz; sister-in-law Alita Lenertz of Tracy; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Heye, son Peter Lamfers, grandsons: Willie and Joseph Lamfers, siblings: Agnes, Julia, Mary, Amelia, Lawrence, Edward, Eugene, Celestine and Peter V.
