The City of Tracy has six candidates for its City Administrator vacancy.
The applicants’ names and resumes were sent to Mayor Pam Cooreman and Interim Administrator Shane Daniels Tuesday, but have not been made public. Typically, city administrator candidates are not made public until the field has been narrowed to three finalists.
A committee made up of the mayor, city council member Jeri Schons, EDA Director Jeff Carpenter, and Daniels has been appointed to interview the candidates.
Cooreman said Tuesday afternoon that it is her goal that the interviews take place “as soon as possible.” It is her intention, the mayor said, to have the committee arrange interviews with all six applicants, and then select three finalists. Any further interviews, she indicated, would also be conducted by the committee, which would then recommend one individual to the full city council.
Consultant Wendell Sande, who was hired by the council to screen applicants’ qualifications and conduct initial telephone interviews, selected the six candidates.
During a discussion at Monday night’s council meeting, Schons expressed an urgency to move ahead with interviews, and get the vacancy filled.
