Marjorie Ann Sebesta was born October 7, 1919 to Bruce and Matilda (Larson) Mowery in rural Milroy, Minnesota.  She graduated from Tracy High School in 1937, then attended nursing school at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated as a registered nurse in November, 1941. During her career she worked as a registered nurse at several hospitals including Madison, WI, Chicago, IL, Ithaca, NY and Stillwater, OK.

Marjorie married Emil Sebesta in Glen Ellyn, IL in 1947. They later moved to Ithaca, NY, where Emil completed his doctorate degree at Cornell University and in 1957 they moved to Stillwater, OK when Emil accepted a job with the USDA. Marjorie continued her nursing career at Stillwater Memorial Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1962 and devoted her time to raising her family. She was an active member of Agronomy Wives at Oklahoma State University and the church guild at St John’s University Parish in Stillwater.  Marjorie continued to live in Stillwater following Emil’s death in 1988, then returned to her childhood hometown of Tracy in 1995 to be closer to family. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters Helen Drackley and Virginia Benson and their spouses, Willard Drackley and Ronald Benson as well as sister-in law Mary Lou Warren and her husband Jim. Marjorie was grateful to be able to live independently well into her 90’s. She especially loved working in her yard and was thankful to be able to continue gardening until she moved into an assisted living home in Tracy at the age of 95.

Marge is survived by her sons: Paul (Debbie) Sebesta of Patagonia, AZ and Stephen (Patti) Sebesta of Fargo, ND: grandchildren: Amy (Jon) Henderson of Victoria, TX, Jennifer (James) Kappel of Edmond, OK, Ashley (Jason) Cain of Roanoke, VA, and Kyle (Allison) Sebesta of Bismarck, ND; great grandsons: Ryan & Jack Henderson, Dylan Sebesta, Carson Cain, and Noah Sebesta.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years, Emil, her brother James, and sisters Helen and Virginia.
