Bring on Sioux Falls — marching band prepares for another competition

The Tracy Area High School marching band is busy preparing for its second competition in a week. After performing in Luverne last week, the band will travel to Sioux Falls on Saturday for the Festival of Bands.

The band is playing “Confident” by Demi Lovato for the full band piece, and its percussion cadence is called “Boom Box.”

According to band director Brittani Klaverkamp, “Confident” is more of a low brass and low woodwind feature.

“It’s fun to hear those kids get to play out and show off a bit,” she said. “Part of our routine includes boxes where the students are in groups of four and they rotate positions with the people in their group. It’s challenging because they have to know exactly which count they are on so that they know when to turn and go a different direction.”
