Plaid Moose coming to downtown Tracy

By Per Peterson

Pete Beerman knows there are good things happening in downtown Tracy, and he wants to be a part of it. However, at the same time, he also wants to make sure bringing a Plaid Moose location to Tracy won’t be seen in a negative light.

The addition of the Plaid Moose to the downtown landscape at the Multi-Purpose Center means the Senior Center will be moving — a point of consternation in town for weeks. The latest plans call for the center to relocate to the second level of the Veterans Memorial Center above the police station. The seniors’ plight is not lost on Beerman, who along with his wife, Krista, is a full-time pastor in Slayton.

“Initially, we thought we could even make our restaurant work with them being there, but ideally, for them and for us, it would be nice for all of us to have our own space,” Beerman said. “We came into it saying we want the City to figure out how best to take care of the future of the Senior Center and LSS (Lutheran Social Services) because those things matter to us. We see the value of caring for the elderly and making sure they have places and services that are available to them.”
