Ronald (Ron) George Brand of Northfield MN, formerly of New Ulm passed away May 18 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
He is survived by his wife, Rita, and children Dana (Matt) Cushing of Brandon, South Dakota and Andy of Minneapolis, Laura (Mark) Thompson, Rochester, Thomas (Denise) Manderfeld, St. Cloud and Nick (Eloisa) Manderfeld of Springfield, and grandchildren Emily, Ethan and Ella Cushing. Zachary Thompson, Tristan and Ellie Manderfeld, Carter, Xavier and Nicholas Manderfeld. His sisters Missy Mantz (John), Otsego, Sharon Durken, Port Wing, Wisconsin, Nancy Brand, Hopkins, Cindy Stiglitz, Marathon, Florida, Gloriann Schwartz (Tony), Excelsior and brother, John (Linda) Excelsior.
Ron was born to Gloria and Nick Brand in Hoven, South Dakota On January 16, 1950. He graduated from Hopkins High School and University of Minnesota Mankato. He taught business at Cathedral High School in New Ulm and completed his sixth year Specialist Degree in Secondary School Administration. He was principal at Tracy High School and later at Norwood Young America High School.
After he retired he and Rita moved to Northfield. They wintered in Texas. Ron was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed football, baseball, fishing and reading. Ron was truly a kind person. He was always a good listener and loved having a good adventure.
