Jon E. Rongstad, age 83, died peacefully, August 15, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Social visitation and services will be held on Saturday, August 21 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray. Social visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. with services following at 2:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear masks. Interment will be in the Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery. Because of COVID circumstances and the health safety of all, a meal will not be served at the church following services. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Jon was born in 1938 in Dovray, MN to Vernon and Luva Rongstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Dovray, MN. He attended elementary school in Dovray, MN, high school in Westbrook, MN and college at Augustana (College) University in Sioux Falls, SD. On July 31, 1960, he married Rosalie Erickson and to this union three sons were born; Tim, Eric and Paul. Jon was a successful insurance agent in local and state insurance industries. He accomplished this through ownership of his own businesses in Westbrook, Lakefield and Waseca. He also served as president of the Professional Insurance Agents of Minnesota. Earlier years found him very active in community organizations. Jon and Rosalie lived in Richfield, Westbrook and Waseca. In 2005, Jon and Rosalie moved to their retirement home on Lake Shetek and shortly after, Jon was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. They continued to live in their lake home for 11 years before Jon entered the Westbrook Good Samaritan Home. Jon was a wonderful family man. He was a successful and loving father and grandfather, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating; music was an important part of his life in many respects.
Survivors: Wife Rosalie; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Kris Rongstad, Eric and Lois Rongstad, Paul and Karla Rongstad. Grandchildren; Matthew Rongstad, Rachel (Rongstad) and Jesse Hylton, Nathan Rongstad and Collin Rongstad.
