After a three-hour workshop Monday night, members of the District No. 2904 School Board moved forward with the next step in the capital improvements project by authorizing the superintendent to submit all required information to the Commissioner of Education to request Review and Comment on a facilities project for capital improvements.
The project would be financed through the issuance of School Building Bonds, if approved by the voters. The information has to be to the Commissioner of Education by May 11. However, much is yet to be decided on the project.
The board heard more information from SitelogIQ, the company hired by the school to assist with the project, and on the scope, schedule and budget of the facilities project.
As to the scope of the needs, projects were broken down by each of the schools: Tracy Area High School, Tracy Area Elementary School and Kid’s World.
During the facility assessment for each location, 16 categories were assessed and broken down into rankings of excellent, acceptable, caution, alert and alarm.
Once the comprehensive facilities assessment was complete, SitelogIQ met with the administration and the facilities committee to go over options and projects and began prioritizing the needs. From the areas determined to be at alert or alarm status, priorities were determined. Ranking highest in needs were mechanical systems, electrical and control systems. Following that, a priority level was given to each of the areas and the work was broken down into scenarios.
“Determining what will be technically correct, supported by your community and fiscally responsible is the role of the school board,” Jake Berg with SitelogIQ said.
