Peggy Jo Tersteeg-Evers was born April 4, 1968, to Harold and Mary (Anderson) Hagert in Glencoe. She was baptized in Glencoe but later moved to New London where she was confirmed at Our Lady of the Lakes in Spicer in 1985. Peggy was selected as Miss New London in 1985! In high school she was active in basketball, tennis, and cross country. She graduated from New London-Spicer High School in 1986. She continued her education at Moorhead State University, graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Peggy married Scott Tersteeg in Bird Island and to this union three children were born: Nicole, Seth and Amanda. They lived in Olivia where Peggy started working for Renville and Brown County as a social worker. They later divorced. Peggy was always supportive of her children and encouraged them to be in extracurricular activities and challenged them academically. She even turned their pole barn into a basketball court so her children and their friends could practice. Peggy loved to host sports teams at her house for meals and fun. She would say “the more shoes in the entryway, the happier I am.” She was very loving, outgoing and always had a positive attitude through everything. Peggy loved to travel with her family and would often joke that she always had her passport on her in case they wanted to leave the country. On February 22, 2022, Peggy was united in marriage to Mark Evers on a perfect day in Mexico. Above all Peggy was a loving mom, daughter, sister, wife and friend and was very proud of all of her children and their accomplishments.
Peggy is survived by her children: Nicole Tersteeg of Fairfax, Seth Tersteeg of Charlottesville, VA, and Amanda Jo Tersteeg of Ann Arbor, MI; husband: Mark Evers of Walnut Grove; mother: Mary Hagert; and siblings: Sue (Kevin) Lundberg of Pennock, Peter (Marie) Hagert of Lake Crystal, Paul (Karen) Hagert of Chandler, AZ, and Amy (Mark) Syvertson of Paynesville; and step-son, Barrett Evers of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Hagert in 2006.
