Glenn Surprenant, age 95 of Tracy, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. Funeral Services and Interment will be held at a later date. Glenn was born August 10, 1927, in Tracy, Minn to parents Hector and Isabelle Surprenant. In 1945, he left high school and joined the Navy to serve during WWII. He returned 12 months later to finish high school and graduated in 1947. He married Virginia Pullen in 1953, and they have lived in Tracy ever since. Glenn had been a member of St. Mary’s Church in Tracy, and served as Commentator, Eucharist minister, and Usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, and Men’s Club. During high school he worked for his father at HA Surprenant Trucking, then owned and operated a Standard Oil gas station in Tracy. After that he worked at Donaldson’s Lumber for 20 years, and then started working for Taylor Lumber in Marshall before retiring. He continued to work part time for MDI in Marshall, then completely retired in 1999. He had enjoyed playing golf with his friends, candle making, and woodworking. He was involved with the Tracy Food Pantry and delivered Meals on Wheels. Glenn was active as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years, served on the Tracy Water Commission, Tracy Police Commission, Tracy Nursing Board, and Twin Circles Housing Board.
Glenn is survived by his children; son Steve (Julynn), daughter Jane Mendez, daughter Lynn Hannig, son Dave (Julie), 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his older sister, Liola Cornelius, and younger sister, LaVonne Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hector and Isabelle, brother Ernie, sister Lenora McFarlane, twin sister Glenora (Fatt) Fick, wife Virginia and son-in-law Ron Hannig.
