Lyall Bisbee, 85

Lyall H. Bisbee of Marshall, passed away at the Tracy Area Hospital on Monday, February 5, 2001. Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at the First Lutheran Church in Marshall.

Lyall Herschell Bisbee was born to Rufus Augustus and Pauline Irene (Hendrickson) Bisbee on September 18, 1915 on a farm in Worth County, Iowa. He was baptized at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Tracy Lutheran Church. He graduated from the Tracy High School in 1933.

On September 6, 1939, Lyall was united in marriage to Theola Borghild Torgrimson at the Tracy Lutheran Church. Lyall worked at the Red Owl Store and Rignell and Moe Hardware Store in Tracy. He and his family moved to Marshall in 1940 where he worked for his uncle at the B.A. Bisbee Plumbing and Heating and became a licensed Master Plumber. Later on he went to work for Schwans Sales and Enterprise, retiring in 1981.

While in Marshall, Lyall along with Carroll Berg started and were Scout Masters of Scout Troop #37 of Marshall. Lyall was a member of the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department from 1950 to 1970 and was its treasurer for a number of years. He was a three gallon American Red Cross blood donor and also was a firearms safety instructor. Lyall was a charter member of the First Lutheran Church and was a member at the time of his death.

Lyall's enjoyments in life were gardening (especially fruit trees), coin collecting, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Theola of Marshall; three children, Eunice Paulanne Johnson of Minneapolis, Glenn Burton (Ann) Bisbee of Memphis, Tennessee, and Dale Ronald (Debbie) Bisbee of Hamel; a grandson, Ted Bisbee of Plymouth; two brothers Burton (Ann) Bisbee of West Concord, MN and Loren Bisbee of Portland, OR; also many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Russell and Burnell Bisbee and a sister, Bernice Quam.

Burial was at the Tracy City Cemetery with the Hamilton-Birk Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Dorothy Rykhus, 79

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 12, 2001 at Tracy Lutheran Church for Dorothy Rykhus. Officiants were Rev. Marlene Elmstrom and Rev. Stephen Olson. Organist was Richard Stelter.

Casket bearers were Michael Ingalls, Duane Campbell, Harold Furan, Noel Rykhus, Bruce Rykhus and Joe Guimond.

Dorothy Arolene Rykhus was born October 19, 1921 to Mark and Minnie (Canedy) Buzzell on the family farm located in Murray County, south of Tracy, Minnesota. She received her education first attending county school District #16. At the age of 11, she moved with her family into Tracy where she graduated from Tracy High School with the class of 1940.

She was the 7th of twelve children, and when her mother died Dorothy was 16 years old. She helped her father raise her five younger brothers and assisted with the homemaking duties.

On January 8, 1942 she married Edwin Rykhus at Walnut Grove, Minnesota. She was a life-long resident of the Tracy community. One of her first jobs was working for Steinberg Ice Cream and Creamery, she later worked for Kirkpatrick's and the Ben Franklin Store for 22 years before she suffered a stroke in 1990.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, being a member of Tracy Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, Senior Citizen's Club, card clubs and the Golden Age Club. She enjoyed walking, playing cards, crocheting and embroidery. She enjoyed being a homemaker and made wonderful lefse, peanut brittle and sugar cookies.

Dorothy passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2001.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Doris (Melvin) Ingalls, Neligh, NE; son James (Elizabeth) Rykhus, Elizabeth CO; four grandchildren, Michael Ingalls, Shari Baker, Tracy Hagedorn and Noel Rykhus; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Furan, Tracy, MN; five brothers, Cecil (Kay) Buzzell, Apache Junction, AZ; Wally (Ruth) Buzzell, Apache Junction, AZ; Leland (Eilene) Buzzell, Bettendorf, IA; Wayne Buzzell, Mountain Home, AR; Donald (Pat) Buzzell, St. Cloud, MN; sister-in-law, Shirley Buzzell, Tracy, MN; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin in 1990, sisters, Corinne, Rosamond, Elsie and Nona, and brother Charles.

Interment was held at the Tracy City Cemetery with the Almlie Funeral Home handling arrangements.
