Panthers compete against the elite in Mankato

The Panther track team was back in Mankato on Saturday to take part in the highly-competitive, 40-plus-team indoor Varsity Showcase.

TMB senior Aidan Swenhaugenz finished second in the 200 with a team of 22.96.

“The kid that got first was in his heat,” TMB coach Heather Kamrud-Rice. “It was a fun race; there were over 70 boys in this race, and those two ran neck-andneck and took first and second. It was a great race.”

Cade Swenhaugen was 10th in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.98.

“The highlights of the day were Cade getting 10th in the 60-meter hurdles, which are set up like the 100 hurdles,” Kamrud-Rice said. “Cade has only run 100-meter hurdles once since junior high I’m pretty sure, and he looked like he’s been running them all along. They are very different than the 300 hurdles. Another highlight was the boys’ 4x200m (Hunter Ostgaard, Tyler Arnold, Cade Swenhaugen and Aidan Swenhaugen) relay taking 11th place.”

Also placing for the boys was Tyler Arnold (27th in the 400-meter run at 57.06; and Hunter Ostgaard (46th in the 200 at 25.10) For the girls, Teagan Viesman was 27th in the 60-meter hurdles at 11.31; and Linaye Odom was 61st in the 60-meter dash with a time of 9.04.

“This was a really competitive meet,” Kamrud-Rice said. “There were teams from Iowa and Wisconsin there also. It was a great experience for the kids. It was an honor just to be there.”
