April 4, 1985 — The Milroy school system and Milroy community honored the Milroy girls’ basketball team with a picnic and program at the school last week Monday, with Bob Johnson as master of ceremonies. Plaques were presented to each player and cheerleader by the school. Mayor Terry Redding presented a plaque from the city to the team. The Milroy alumni, who live in Marshall, gave a bouquet of carnations to each team member and a gift to Coach Terry Culhane. Each team member spoke and the band played. Russ Sanow and Dick Vroman also spoke.
April 5, 1995 — A Tracy and Milroy ninth grade boys’ basketball team took third place among 12 teams in the Pacesetter basketball. Team members included: Wade Rignell, Brian Dolan, Brian Luckhardt, Jon Peterreins, Derrick Pinckney, Jason Smith, Raleigh Schmidt, Pat Garvin, Luke Ostgaard, Jamie Louwagie, Jeremy Gilb and John Brink.
April 6, 2005 — The Panther baseball team got off on a winning note by defeating Luverne at Tracy Tuesday by a score of 5-4. “It’s always nice to start off with a win,” said Panther Coach Bill Tauer. “I thought our kids played well even though we did not hit the ball as well as we will later in the season.” Matt Bauer pitched 4 2/3 innings to get the win and Derek Radke pitched the last 2 1/3 innings to get the save. Radke led the seven hit Panther attack with 2 hits while Derek Daniels, Sean Fox, Paul Carlson, Brett Jackson and Andy Nelson got one hit each.
April 8, 2015 — As the medal was hung around his neck, Sammy Trejo’s face lit up in a smile. Trejo, a sophomore at Tracy Area High School, had just helped the Junior Sioux Wheelers place fifth in a wheelchair basketball tournament in Kansas City, KS. The Sioux Wheelers, a team based in Sioux Falls, won three of six games in the March 21-23 tourney. The team’s eight-player roster has both boys and girls from Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa.
