A former southwest Minnesota resident lost his life in a plane crash Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn Park.
Terry Dolan, 63, of Edina, was killed when his plane plummeted from the sky and crashed into a home, according to a statement from U.S. Bank, where Dolan served as vice chair and chief administration officer of U.S. Bancorp.
No one on the ground was injured, although one person was apparently inside the home at the time of the crash, according to published reports. The house became engulfed in flames after impact and was considered a total loss.
The executive transport plane was registered to Dolan. It had the capabilities to carry up to six people.

TERRY DOLAN
Tom Dolan, a cousin to Terry, said the loss has been tough on the entire Dolan family, which despite its size and how spread out the clan is, have always been a close-knit family.
“There were a lot of things that we’ve done together,” Tom said. “Of course, you know the Dolan Classic … Terry would always come to that; he was on the board for that. He’d always come out to that and it was always great talking to him and catching up on the old days. This was very tragic; he was probably close to retirement, and then this happens. But he lived his life right.”
The incident occurred about 12:20 p.m. Saturday as it was headed to Anoka County-Blaine Airport in Minneapolis from Des Moines International Airport in Iowa, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Dolan, a 1979 graduate of Milroy High School, was the lone person on the plane.
A preliminary report about the crash will be released sometime in the weeks to come by the National Transportation Safety Board.
Terry Dolan was married to Tracy native Sue Mix.
Tom, who graduated in the same class, called Terry one of his closest cousins. They two played sports together in high school before Terry went off to college at St. Thomas University. Terry was also in Tom’s wedding.
“He was a very kind and polite person,” Tom said. “He was just that type of person. Very smart person, I think he got straight As. And he was a leader. He and I were the captains on the basketball team, and that showed as he got to be an executive for U.S. Bank.”
