The indoor gardening group met Tuesday afternoon. They checked the progress on the items that were started at their last session. They have been learning about starting things from kitchen scraps, and had decided to try celery, tomatoes and strawberries.
The celery had a good start when it was in the water but once transplanted it was not looking so good, the cups that they had planted strawberries in showed no activity at all, but the tomatoes started by planting a slice of tomato were doing very well. The new project at this session was to place a sweet potato in water to grow a vine for one of our outdoor pots.
This week the craft group made colorful holiday wreaths for their doors using egg shapes that were cut from scrapbook paper with a variety of colors and patterns. Each wreath had its own unique look and they brightened the doors of each resident.
One of our games this week was called the Scrambled Egg game. Residents were to choose a plastic egg from the basket, in each egg were 7 scrabble tiles, they were each given a pencil and paper and the goal was to make as many words as possible using the tiles from the egg.
We ended our week with popcorn and movie time. The movie this week was “Secretariat.”
