The Panthers scored five first-inning runs and nine more in the second inning to stay unbeaten after a 16-3 win over Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday in Dawson.

TMB, which scored 11 runs in its win over RRC-WWG on Monday, got two hits and two RBI from Aliyah Loftness and Brianna Duscher. Melaina Ankrum scored twice and drove in three, and Avery Torgeson also had three RBI.

“The girls have been having quality at-bats the last couple days, but we still need to work on getting good contact on the swings,” TMB coach Karl Campbell said. “Our defense was solid again. It has been a big key this week with this being the second day in a row with no defensive errors in the game.”

Gretchen Lanoue scattered four hits and struck out seven for another win.

The Panthers start a run of four straight road games on Thursday at against KMS (Murdock).

The Panthers scored 16 runs on just five hits in a chilly 16-2 win over Red Rock Central-WWG on Monday to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Rosa Vang had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run, and Braelynn Kirk had one hit and scored three runs for the Panthers. Melaina Ankrum also scored three runs, and Gretchen Lanoue and Piper Freeburg both scored two runs.

Gretchen Lanoue got the win, striking out seven and allowing just one hit. Lanoue, Freeburg and Aliyah Loftness all had a hit. “We got off to a quick start offensively with a three-run first inning and an 11-run second inning,” TMB coach Karl Campbell said. “Their pitching struggled and our players took advantage of it. We only had five hits, but earned a bunch of walks. The girls played solid defense with no errors. Gretch was really good out of the gate in the circle, and struggled a little as the game wore on.”

TMB took advantage of 13 Falcon walks, three hit batters and stole six bases.

Gretchen Lanoue doubled and got the win in the circle in her first softball game in two years, as the Panther softball team won 5-4 over Adrian-Ellsworth in their season-opener last Thursday, Lanoue also went the distance in the circle, scattering 11 hits and striking out seven.

The Panthers won despite being outhit 10-6.

“I was happy with how our team approached this game,” TMB coach Karl Campbell said. “The players were excited to play the first game of the season, and they were vocal and supportive of their teammates through out the game. Gretchen pitched a good game for her first varsity pitching start. She mixed well, and battled throughout. I was concerned coming into the season as to what our pitching was going to look like and came out of that game very impressed.”

The Dragons loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh, but failed to push across the tying run.

“This was a game where we were able to keep the pressure on, but Adrian kept battling back,” Campbell said. “Those are situations that will make this team better.”

Braelynn Kirk, Melaina Ankrum, Piper Freeburg and Kendra Timmerman each had singles for the Panthers
