Boys 2nd, girls 4th at Panther II Invite

Boys 2nd, girls 4th at Panther II Invite
RAELYNN SCHREIER finished tied for third in the high jump at Tuesday’s Panther II Invite with a height of 4-6.

The Panther track and field teams enjoyed plenty of success in their first and only home meet Tuesday, with the boys earning a second-place finish behind Murray County Central and the girls taking fourth place.

There were a number of firstplace finishes for the boys: Aidan Swenhaugen, first in the 100 meter run (11.29), first in the 200 meter run (22.98); and tied for first in the high jump (5-8); Tyler Arnold, first in the 400 meter run (54.10); Cade Swenhaugen, first in the 110 meter hurdles (16.07) and the 300 hurdles (41.88).

“Aidan and Cade are two that were getting really close to last year’s Hamline qualifying times,” TMB coach Heather Kamrud-Rice said. “(Tuesday’s) meet was their last chance to get their best time to possibly qualify for Hamline. Aidan has already run a state qualifying time in the 100 meter and a height that qualifies in the high jump (athletes have to get those marks at the section meet in order to qualify). His 200 meter time is 0.2 seconds from the state qualifying time. Cade’s best 300m hurdle time this season is 0.4 seconds from the state qualifying time. Cade ran the 110m hurdles Tuesday for the first time since junior high and his time was 0.55 seconds from the state qualifying time. These two are on the hunt.”

Also, the TMB boys’ 4x100 relay team of Arnold, Braden Morgan, Hunter Ostgaard and Aidan Swenhaugen was first with a time of 45.96.

Eli Lightfoot was third in the triple jump with a long of 37-9.

For the Panther girls, Linaye Odom just missed winning the 100 meter run, taking second with a time of 14.13 and also took third in the long jump (14-9); and Marin Knott was second in the 1,600 meter run at 5:48.07.

RaeLynn Schreier grabbed second place in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 52.16 and tied for third in the high jump at 4-6; and Teagan Viessman was third in the 100 meter hurdles at 18.02.

The girls’ 4x400 relay (Knott, Avery Anderson, Lauren Knakmuhs and Kyli Carter) was second at 4:38.66.

“We had some really exciting PRs,” Kamrud-Rice said. “I was so proud of our team. We are nursing some injuries and coming back from some injuries. It’s heartbreaking to see these kids working so hard and hungry for their next personal record to be sidelined for an injury.”
