The Panther softball team’s strong start to the season took a turn for the worse Tuesday, as they were swept by Minneota/ Canby 10-1 and 11-5.
In Game 1, Melaina Ankrum had the Panthers’ only two hits as TMB hitters struck out 14 times against Madison Hennen. Avery Torgeson had TMB’s one RBI.
Ankrum took the loss in the circle. She walked nine and struck out eight.
In the second game, TMB got down 7-1 early before battling back to pull within two runs with a four-run fourth inning, but that was as close as the Panthers got.
Aliyah Loftness went 3-for-4, and Gretchen Lanoue and Braelynn Kirk both had two hits.
Lanoue walked eight and gave up 12 hits. The Panthers (3-2, 1-2 Camden Conference) play at Canby today (April 24) and at Tyler on Friday.
