April 28, 1955 — Tracy Fire Department is represented at the 1955 session of the State Firemen’s School at the University of Minnesota campus. Earl Allumbaugh, chief, and Earl Engesser are the local firemen at the course.

April 29, 1965 — Three Tracy students, one from the public school and two from St. Mary’s parochial school, were awarded blue ribbons on their exhibits at the regional Science Fair held at Mankato State college. Alan Hubbard, a 10th-grader, received an outstanding achievement award for his physics demonstration of explaining his stepped-up transformer generating 225,000 volts. St. Mary’s students awarded blue ribbons were Greg Von Bokern and Barbara Lanoue.

April 24, 1975 — Jim Kosse, 10, of St. Mary’s School, and Jeff Gladis, 11, of the Milroy Public School, were among 15 southwestern Minnesotas in the American Cancer Society’s annual poster contest on the health hazards of smoking. Their posters were chosen from 973 entered from the 31-county area.

April 25, 1985 — Keith Reinert of the American Legion and Art Thielges of the VFW say it is time for the two organizations to work together in operating a home for both groups. The former American Legion building has been named the Tracy Veterans Center.

April 26, 1995 — Jans Visker Tracy Public School transportation foreman, wonders how many miles he has driven during his lifetime. Now that he is retiring, he may have time to sit down with a pencil and figure it out. The veteran bus driver recently submitted his resignation to the Tracy School Board. This school year will be his last. Visker began driving in 1962.
April 27, 2005 — Tracy Area Medical Services is studying the possibility of building a 6,000 square foot rehabilitation and wellness center near the hospital. The facility has an estimated $625,000 cost. Rick Nordahl, chief executive officer for TAMS, presented the concept to city council members Monday night. Nordahl said that the new facility would offer several benefits.

April 29, 2015 — The Fine Arts Council of Tracy has a special word for Chris Schons. “Bravo!” FACT board members presented Schons with an award that recognized 15 years of volunteer work. “We’re really grateful for everything you have done,” FACT President Deb Miller told a surprised Schons. The award was inscribed with the word “bravo,” a traditional accolade in the fine arts community.
