Peterson responds to recall petition

EDITOR’S NOTE—Following is a statement received from Tracy City Councilman Tony Peterson, in response to the citizen recall petition that charges him with four violations of city charter and code. Citizens will vote on Feb. 13, whether Peterson should be removed from the council.

“As per the City Charter I offer the following statement in response to the grounds cited in the recall petition:
“For the record, none of the five people who initiated this petition have witnessed any of the charges listed as they did not happen. They are on record with the accusations but offer no first hand evidence.
“I do not use verbal abuse or threats to anyone in the public or anywhere else. I did have a loud argument with the City Administrator and publicly apologized for that event.
“I have not “issued orders” to any city employee. There are rumors of such involving tattered flags and I do have the e-mail evidence to prove that this was a request and promptly thanked all employees involved.
