Going green for Gavin

Panther red and blue were temporarily replaced by green Thursday, as shown by the TMB volleyball team, which donned special T-shirts in support of young Gavin Fischer prior to the Panthers’ match against LQPV. The shirts were a fundraiser for the Fischer family after Gavin had surgery to remove a cancerous kidney. All players and coaches donned the shirt for Thursday’s match. Gavin had a port placed under his collarbone Monday, Sept. 24, at Sanford Children’s Hospital. The port is a special IV line placed inside of his body that will provide him chemotherapy. The family was to meet with an oncologist this Tuesday to figure out what his chemo schedule will look like; chemo is expected to begin next week. It’s not yet known how aggressive his tumor was. Gavin went back to school full days in late September.
