Unbeaten ’68 Scrappers again show winning form

COIN TOSS — 1968 Scrapper football captains Mark Donaldson (left) and Cal Ludeman joined Panther football captains Griffin Radke (21), Jake Byrne (5), and Matt Timmerman (23) for the pre-game coin toss at midfield Friday night. The Panthers won the coin toss, which was conducted by Ludeman, and elected to defer their choice.

Two generations came together Friday night as the 1968 football Scrappers were honored at TMB’s homecoming game.

One-by-one, 15 members of the undefeated 1968 THS Scrapper football team were introduced to the homecoming football crowed at Tracy Area High School Friday night. Memorabilia displayed near the grandstand told the story of the Scrappers stellar 1968 season, in which the THS boys out-scored their eight opponents 265-33. A 40-0 trouncing of Marshall was among the team’s five shutouts.

“Aren’t you going to line-up and run a play?” someone asked.

“We need a football!” came the grinning reply.
