For the first time in school history, Tracy Area High School has a state wrestling champion.
Trevor Eisfeld, battling a sickness all day Saturday, pushed his way to a 14-10 decision over Nathan Trio of Maple River on Saturday at the Class A Individual State Wrestling Tournament at the XCel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Jace Paplow, also vying for a state title, lost 1-0 to Minnewaska Area’s Tyson Meyer.

Sawyer Schwartz scored a takedown with :04 left to defeat Max Ehrich of Blue Earth Area and claim the Class A third-place medal at 160 pounds Saturday’s Class A Individual State Wrestling Tounrament at the XCel Energy Center in St. Paul. Schwartz, who trailed 11-7 after two periods, ends his senior season with a record of 46-10.
• Ayden Horner (50-4) took fourth place at 120 pounds after falling to Justin Crandall of LPGE-Browerville.
• Levi Ellingson (40-11) took home the sixth-place medal after a 6-3 loss to Kimball Area’s Gavin Winter at 126.
Ayden Horner and Sawyer Schwartz were victorious in their Class A consolation semifinal matches at Saturday’s Class A Individual State Wrestling Tounrament at the XCel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Horner defeated Kelvin Andrade-Ponce (Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City) for the second time during the tournament, 8-4, and Schwartz won a 6-3 decision over Daniel Smith of GMLOS.
The two will now wrestle both for third place.
• At 126, Levi Ellingson fell to Crosby-Ironton’s John Paul Fitzpatrick by a tough 1-0 decision.
Trevor Eisfeld and Jace Paplow both won their semifinal matches at Saturday’s Class A Individual State Wrestling Tounrament at the XCel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Paplow (46-2) won by 5-3 decision over Wyatt Simon of Maple River, and Eisfeld battled his way to a gritty 3-2 decision over Thomas Dineen of Benson. It was Eisfeld’s 50th victory of the season against no losses.
In quarterfinal action at the Class A Individual State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, TMB/WWG’s Levi Ellingson (40-9) dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Maple River’s Trevor Pearson at 126 pounds.
• Ayden Horner (49-3) won his first wrestleback Friday morning, decisioning Maple River’s Boden Simon, 2-0. In the other wrestleback Friday, Sawyer Schwartz (44-10) kept going with a fall in 2:27 over Mason Scrhoeder of Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale-Parkers Prairie.
