Jason Baune was born on November 11, 1981, in Slayton, Minnesota to William “Bill” and Mary Rykhus Baune. He grew up in Revere until 1990 when the family moved to Lamberton, MN. Jason graduated from Red Rock Central High School in 2000.
While in school Jason participated in 4-H, football, and wrestling. Following high school, Jason attended Minnesota West Canby for Auto and Diesel Mechanics graduating in 2003. Jason worked for Hacker Hauling out of Currie, MN, Muecke R A Sand and Gravel out of Slayton, and Hardrock Aggregate out of Hardwick, MN. He currently was working for Reker Construction out of Adrian, MN. On June 30, 2018, he and Amy Behnken were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Slayton while they worked on remodeling a 110-year farmhouse north of Dovray, MN.
Jason passed away unexpectedly at the Sanford Worthington Hospital in Worthington, MN on Friday, November 5, 2021, at the age of 39. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton. He also was a member of the Murray County Racing Association. It was a known fact that if you need help Jason was there for you! Jason enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, fishing, hunting, racing, cooking, and renovating their forever home.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Baune of Slayton, MN, his parents, Bill and Mary Baune of Slayton, MN, two siblings, Steven Baune of Cottonwood, MN, and Christy Baune and Vernon Walker and their two children, Joshua and Izzy of Farmington, MN, maternal grandparents, Dale and Lorraine Rykhus of Tracy, MN, parents-in-law, Duane and Shirley Behnken of Elgin, MN, one sister-in-law, Amber and Sam Blum and their son, Elijah of Rochester, MN and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and their families. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Donna Baune.
Funeral Services will be at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Terrill Bramstedt and Rev. Jeffrey Williams officiating. The organist is Sherri Isder with special music by Mary Bramstedt. The pallbearers are Eric Gillette, Trevor Holm, Sam Blum, Dennis Doeden, Randy Barrett, Brett Muecke, John Overman and Lucas Erickson. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN from 4-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
