Dale Danielson

The funeral service for Dale Danielson, 74, of Tracy, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022, at Tracy Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be Sunday, January 2, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Tracy.  Visitation will continue on Monday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Tracy Lutheran Church.  Interment will follow the service at the Tracy Cemetery.  Military honors provided by U.S. American Legion Post 173 of Tracy.

Dale Raymond Danielson was born on May 5, 1947, in Tyler, MN, to Raymond and Rosemary (Kathman) Danielson.  He grew up in the Garvin area and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1962,.  Dale enlisted and served in the U.S. Army.  He was stationed in Germany and Vietnam.  After his honorable discharge, he returned home.  On December 4, 1973, he was united in marriage to Lauretta “Gretch” Johnson.  The couple made their home in Tracy.  Dale was very talented.  He worked for Homera, later Northstar Modular Homes.  He also worked for several farmers in the area including Jim and Dale Malmberg since 2003.  He enjoyed tinkering and could fix just about anything.  He also enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.  Dale greatly enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dale died on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Lauretta “Gretch” of Tracy, children Kimberly Pedersen of Tracy, Amy Dumos of Larchwood, IA, Melissa (and Robert Jr.) Willhite of Tracy, David (and Sunshine) Pedersen of Dover, MN, April (and Jason) Lichty of Tracy, Sara Danielson of Tracy, Dale Jr. Danielson (and Miranda Harrison) of rural Westbrook, Daren Danielson of rural Slayton, 28 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, sisters Sharalyn (and William) Wood of Marshall, Dianne Sturges of Marshall, Sheila (Duane) Schmeichel of Madison, AL, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandchild Kage Kerber and in-laws Frances and Arthur Weinberg.
